Does anyone know why this happened?

I saw that Amanda Knox was convicted today on the murder of Meredith Kertcher. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about why she did it or how it escalated into murder. I think it's absolutely terrible what happened and I'm really sorry to her family and friends for their loss.
