How come Filipinos fond of titles?

I feel most respected when someone uses my name. No misters, no sirs, no po, no kuya, just my name. Everything else is fake and pretentious. It also irritates me that people (Filipinos) I know and see every day still insist on putting a title on me. In some parts of America if you call a woman "Ma'am" its the same as calling her "b*tch" just because of the sarcastic overtones in which ma'am has been used in the past. If someone is so impressed with themselves and wants to be called "Baron Von Highness Mister Sir Po, then they need to tell me. Otherwise I will use their first name. It doesn't mean I am lacking of respect for that person. I have special names for those people.
