Final Fantasy 13 and Versus 13?

I know that these 2 are different times and storyline, but is the gameplay the same? I heard in a question that one of the FF13's was going to be the turn based, while the other one was going to be the free fighting like in Kingdom Hearts. Is this true? And if it is, which 1 is the turn based and which one is the free fighting? In my opinion turn based takes too long and more strategic, while free fighting takes a little less time, and is less...strategic.
