My aloe plant is sick?

i got it a few months ago and it was very skinny and underwatered. it's just a baby, only a few inches tall. i planted it in cactus dirt and watered it and got it fattened up some, but now the leaves are turning brown. i know that means that i've been using to much water, so i cut back and let the dirt be completely dry for about a week to a week and a half. then i gave it a little bit of water. well now it got worse and the brown has spread to the tops of the leaves instead of just the bottoms. the tips of some of the leaves are shriveling too. it's still growing baby leaves, so i know it's not dead, but is there anything else i can do besides sparse watering to make it healthy again?
